Save Edmonton's River Valley - Petition, Vote Now

Don Iveson + Sarah Hamilton

& 5 other councilors voted

to allow EPCOR to build an industrial solar complex in our River Valley.  This does not make sense.  Why set the precedent to allow for industrial zoning in the river valley? It makes no sense!

The decision was close 7 to 6, but the fight is not over.  I believe a sensitive issue like this should be decided by the people in 2021, through a municipal plebiscite.

A 45,000 panel industrial solar complex should not be built in the River Valley.

For generations, Edmonton’s river valley has been a fairly protected part of our city.  I am concerned this precedent will allow more industrial construction.

I am collecting signatures from concerned citizens who are upset at the 7-6 decision by city council to allow Epcor to build a 45,000 panel in the heart of  Edmonton’s river valley.

There’s no shortage of space in and around the city, so why was Epcor’s first instinct to place it in our treasured river valley?

By signing the below petition, you demand Edmonton city council re-evaluate the decision to allow industrial solar construction in the river valley and bring this matter for a plebiscite in the next municipal election in 2021.
